Geskiedenis

History

The desire for an independant  congregation took shape in 1951. NG members who  lived in Birchleigh were enrolled members of the NG Church of Kempton Park (parent church).

An asbestos building measuring 15.86m x 6.1m was commissioned on 24  July 1960, and a request was made for the  secession  from the  Kempton Park  congregation. During an evening service on 16  November 1960, the new congregation began with 284 members, 10 elders and deacons, without a pastor, manse and church building and with a guaranteed income of R445.70.
On  26-27 November 1966 the current church building was used for the first time with 632 members and 270 children present.
